Speed. Scale. Soul. HR's Defining Role in a Tech-Driven World

As emerging technologies become more embedded across HR practices, being “human‑centric” can no longer be assumed. In fact, without intentional human-centric design, automation and efficiency pressures can quietly erode connection, belonging, and collaboration. This session explores what it really means for HR to be human-centric in the age of AI, moving beyond just values to examine how HR  services are actually delivered day to day.  Drawing on current research, this session provides HR leaders with a practical lens to assess the value their service delivery model brings today, how that value may need to evolve tomorrow, and where technology can strengthen rather than replace human impact.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Define what “human-centric” means in an AI-enabled world.
  • Assess your HR service delivery model through a human-centric approach.
  • Make more confident, strategic decisions about how to balance human-centricity and technology design.

HR Peer Exchange

Post Keynote Discussion: What Human-Centric HR Means in Practice

Following the keynote Speed. Scale. Soul. HR’s Defining Role in a Tech-Driven World, this peer exchange gives HR leaders space to translate the idea of “human-centric HR” into real service delivery decisions. As emerging technology becomes more embedded across HR services, human-centricity can no longer be assumed without intentional human-centric design to foster connection, belonging, and collaboration. In this peer discussion, participants will share what “human-centric” looks like inside their own organizations, compare where technology is strengthening versus weakening HR’s impact, and surface practical choices leaders are making to balance speed, scale, and human value in day-to-day HR services.

In this session, you and your peers will explore:

  • What “human-centric HR” looks like in practice within your current organization.
  • Where technology is enhancing HR’s value and where it may be undermining connection, belonging, and collaboration.
  • One or two practical changes you can take back to better balance human-centricity and technology design within your own HR department.

CHRO Panel

Leading Through Uncertainty

Leading through uncertainty isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about making confident decisions when the path forward isn’t clear. In this panel, senior leaders share how they navigate constant disruption, from shifting business demands to rapid technological change, while keeping their organizations focused and moving forward. Using real-world examples, you’ll explore how to balance speed with thoughtful decision-making, communicate with clarity when direction is evolving, and support your people through ambiguity. Walk away with practical perspectives you can apply immediately to lead with confidence, even when certainty is out of reach.

Fast, Flawed, and Fixable: Getting Real ROI from AI in Talent Acquisition

Talent Acquisition is under pressure to prove AI ROI beyond efficiency metrics. This session will explore reframing AI in Talent Acquisition from a cost lever to an outcomes-and-risk conversation – where speed gains should also translate into quality-of-hire, trust, and defensible decisions amid rising concerns about bias, privacy, and candidate authenticity.

AI in Talent Acquisition looks efficient on paper – yet too often disappoints in outcomes. In this session, you and your peers will explore:

  • Unpacking the usual culprits: cost-first rollouts, inflated expectations, and weak governance that quietly create bigger downstream problems (bias, “workslop,” and costly talent misfires).
  • What’s working (and what’s not).
  • How to keep human judgment in the loop, define success beyond speed, pilot responsibly, and build transparent guardrails that turn AI from a blunt cost lever into a durable advantage.
11:00 AM

CHRO Peer Exchange

Driving AI Maturity and Becoming a Force for Digital Transformation

In this interactive CHRO peer exchange, you’ll explore what it looks like to move up the AI maturity curve and position yourself as a driver of meaningful digital transformation in your organization. For many functions, AI adoption has been uneven, and the CHRO is uniquely positioned to be a driver of progress by building the right skills, structures, and governance to make technology work for the workforce. From freeing up organizational capacity and enabling smarter talent decisions to navigating risk and ensuring a human-centric approach, CHROs have both the opportunity and the responsibility to lead this agenda. Through guided peer discussion, you’ll examine where your organization sits on the AI maturity curve, hear how peers are building momentum, and identify the governance and change strategies that are making the biggest difference.

In this session, you and your peers will:

  • Assess where your organization currently sits on the AI maturity curve and identify the key barriers and enablers to moving forward.
  • Exchange practical approaches with peers on building AI-related skills, driving adoption, managing risk, and freeing up organizational capacity through technology.
  • Identify one actionable step to advance your organization’s AI strategy and strengthen your role as a driver of digital transformation.

Lightning Round

Has Constant Change Outpaced Change Management?

Change is no longer something organizations move through; instead, it has become the daily environment they operate in. Yet many change management frameworks still treat changes as standalone events. This lightning round challenges that assumption and pushes HR leaders to rethink what “change” actually means when disruption is constant, fast‑paced, and often overlapping. The session explores how this shift affects organizations, teams, and individuals, and what role HR must play in helping leaders and employees navigate ongoing uncertainty.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Reframe change as a constant organizational reality rather than a series of random events.
  • Recognize how we experience change continuously and why traditional change management approaches often fall short.
  • Identify how HR can help organizations link ongoing changes to a clear, meaningful purpose instead of managing them in isolation.
11:15 AM

Lightning Round

The Visibility Gap: Articulating HR’s Impact Across the Organization

This lightning round focuses on helping HR leaders intentionally shape how their value is understood inside the organization, not by doing more work but by communicating existing impact more effectively. As expectations of HR continue to rise, many HR teams struggle with a familiar challenge: The work they do matters, but leaders don’t always see it that way. This session reframes internal HR credibility as a marketing challenge, not a capability gap. It explores how HR leaders can borrow proven tactics from sales and marketing, such as tailoring messages to different audiences, clarifying the value they deliver, and using storytelling to make their enterprise-wide impact understood by executives, managers, and employees.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Recognize why HR impact often goes unseen and how this creates a perception problem rather than a value problem.
  • Apply basic marketing and sales concepts, such as audience segmentation and value propositions, to communicate HR’s impact more effectively.
  • Identify one or two concrete ways to “sell” HR’s value internally without overstating impact or relying on more data.

Well, This Is Awkward: How HR Leaders Communicate When the Data Is Uncomfortable

The data is in. The results aren’t what anyone hoped for. Now what? This can be one of HR’s most uncomfortable moments – when diagnostic results challenge the narrative, catch leaders off guard, or surface problems no one wants to own. This lightning round explores how HR leaders can interpret tough data objectively, decide what truly warrants action, and respond in ways that leave leaders feeling thoughtful, not defensive.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Recognize common defensive reactions to unexpected results and how they can get in the way of learning and change.
  • Differentiate which findings require immediate action from those that can be monitored or set aside for now.
  • Respond to difficult results in a way that preserves credibility and strengthens trust with their audience.

Moving From AI Anxiety to AI Advantage: Reducing Technostress and Accelerating Adoption

Excitement. Curiosity. Fear. Apprehension. These are emotions that every major technological shift has invited, and the shift we’re in today is no different. As pressure from leaders to adopt AI accelerates, many employees are navigating rising stress, shifting expectations, and a growing sense of uncertainty about the future. This session explores what’s really getting in the way of successful AI adoption, from unclear decision rights to overwhelming workflows, and shares practical strategies for reducing friction and building confidence to help shift AI as a source of strain for employees to a competitive advantage.

By the end of this session, you will be better equipped to:

  • Understand the root causes of AI anxiety and how technostress manifests within organizations.
  • Explore the role of HR and people leaders in helping employees navigate through AI anxiety and technostress.
  • Review practical strategies to reduce friction and strengthen AI adoption.

The Benchmarking Debate: Impactful Insights or Misleading Metrics?

Few tools in HR are as trusted or as contested as benchmarking. Some leaders rely on benchmarks to validate priorities, justify investments, and guide decision-making, while others warn that benchmarks can oversimplify complexity, create false confidence, or pull HR away from what actually matters in their organization. This moderated debate puts both perspectives head-to-head, challenging leaders to examine when benchmarking sharpens strategy and when it gets in the way of our better judgment. Rather than landing on a simple “for or against” conclusion, the session highlights how to think about benchmarks: when to trust them, when to push back on them, and how to use them as one input rather than the final answer.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate when benchmarking provides valuable insight vs. when it risks obscuring context or priorities.
  • Compare differing perspectives on how benchmarks influence HR decision‑making and credibility.
  • Clarify how to use benchmarking as an input to judgment, not a substitute for it.

Beyond the Agent: the Leadership Ecosystem for an AI-Enabled World

As more organizations deploy AI agents, a new challenge is emerging: the leadership systems around them haven’t kept up. Skills and training alone won’t close the gap. Join this session to learn how HR leaders, in partnership with IT, can redesign the leadership ecosystem: structure, performance, leadership pipelines, development, and culture. Discover what leadership must look like beyond the agent.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Reframe AI transformation as a leadership-system problem, recognizing that AI accelerates the leadership capability already in place rather than creating it.
  • Identify the five levers (organizational design, performance drivers, leadership pipelines, leadership development, and culture) that determine whether leaders can deliver on AI’s promise.
  • Build the IT–HR partnership needed to redesign the leadership ecosystem and move AI from ambition to adoption.

Evolving Today’s HRBP for Tomorrow: Building Clarity for What’s Ahead

As organizations reshape operating models, scale digital capabilities, and navigate continuous change, the role of the HR business partner (HRBP) has never been more critical … or more ambiguous. In this panel discussion, HR leaders will share candid stories about how they’ve enabled effective HRBPs in today’s environment and the role those HRBPs play in driving sustained organizational impact. The conversation will explore what the HRBP role looks like in practice today, what conditions organizations must create for them to succeed, and how the role must evolve to remain relevant within future HR service delivery models. Attendees will leave with a clearer perspective on what should change, what must endure, and how HR leaders can shape the HRBP role for the future.

The Leadership Gap No One's Talking About and How to Close It

AI is everywhere, but real impact is still rare. The gap isn’t technology, it’s how leaders use it.

Strong leadership alone is no longer enough. Today’s leaders need the judgment, confidence, and practical capability to apply AI in real decisions, not just understand it. Yet most organizations are developing AI skills and leadership in isolation, limiting both.

In this session, we’ll unpack the leadership gap no one’s talking about and explore how to build AI capability and leadership together. You’ll learn how McLean & Company’s Human-Centric AI Program is equipping leaders to make better decisions faster and turn AI into a true driver of organizational outcomes.

This session will explore:

  • Why AI isn’t the problem, leadership capability is.
  • What future-ready leaders need to thrive with AI, beyond technical literacy.
  • A smarter way to build AI and leadership capability in tandem.
  • McLean’s Human-Centric AI Program

Strategy is Energy

Disruption is no longer a choice — it’s our new reality. In an era where generative AI is outpacing our ability to adapt, where customer expectations have leaped a decade forward, and where traditional business models crumble without warning, one quality separates the survivors from the extinct: fearlessness.

Organizations can no longer afford to iterate at the edges — they must fundamentally reimagine how they approach work. But the real questions that haunt every leader are deceptively simple: How do we become the disruptor instead of the disrupted? How do we transform faster than our competitors? How do we ignite our teams to deliver experiences that don’t just satisfy, but redefine what’s possible?

Drawing from the frontlines of innovation, Shawn Kanungo reveals the counterintuitive approaches that turn market turbulence into transformative opportunity. His practical yet provocative roadmap shows leaders how to embrace uncertainty, experiment at scale, and build organizations that thrive on change.

Mind the Gap: Measuring Engagement Between Surveys

Your annual engagement survey tells you where you’ve been, but what’s happening right now? Measuring engagement once a year isn’t enough to understand how your workforce is actually feeling on a daily basis. In this peer exchange, you’ll explore how leading organizations are closing the gap between formal surveys by using more continuous, real-time signals to stay connected to how their workforce is actually feeling. Through open discussion and shared experiences, you’ll reflect on what you are (and aren’t) capturing today, how leaders are responding in the moment, and what it takes to turn ongoing insights into meaningful action. Walk away with practical ideas to better understand, monitor, and act on engagement – not just once a year, but all the time. between formal survey cycles.

In this session, you and your peers will:

  • Identify the gaps in your current approach and what signals you may be missing between survey cycles.
  • Exchange practical methods with peers for capturing ongoing engagement insights and enabling real-time response.
  • Identify one actionable way to strengthen how you measure and act on engagement year round.
