What differentiates Sassafras AllSight from other similar products?
While KeyServer originally started out as a license management and enforcement platform, it grew to oh so much more in the time since we've used it. The most useful features are the highly detailed hardware inventory and software usage it logs. My experience with other products is limited, but the clean web interface, powerful search capabilities, and shere quality of information collected is incredibly helpful in determining actual needs from what is provisioned. If you are involved with hardware or software deployments, or license procurement, you need the insights AllSight can give you. There simply isn't a better product.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I love the hardware and software inventories, and the powerful reports you are able to generate from those two. Which systems have been online lately? Is a new software product being use? Is an old product that will retire soon still being used and by whom? How many of our systems have patched to the latest version, and where are older versions still installed? Are our office systems encrypted? Are the department printers online and working? THIS is the power of AllSight and how I use it.
What do you dislike most about this product?
There are still some capabilities of the system that are only available through the KeyConfigure application. Sassafras is working to bring the feature set into their web interface, but there are still a few holdout pieces that I find frustrating having to go about using though the application. I know they will get there. I'm just impatient.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Sassafras offers a free trial period. Take it. Put the agent on your systems and just see what you are able to glean from what it logs. I guarantee you will be impressed!
